Our emotional perceptions are created by hurtful situations that we experience throughout life:   divorce or separation, grief through death, emotional abuse, abandonment, adultery. All of these are wounding to the heart chakra. Therefore, the "wounded child" resides in the heart chakra.

In Western medicine, we “treat” the physical symptoms of the heart’s function (or lack of proper function).  In Eastern medicine, a physical illness brought about by heartbreak requires that an emotional healing occur along with the physical healing. Learning to love yourself is a powerful first step in securing a healthy fourth chakra.

So, what is a chakra?  Chakras are energy centers. They function like receivers and transformers of the various forms of information.  The seven primary chakras are located along a central vertical axis of our spine and open toward the front of the body like a blossom. These circular energy centers are in constant motion, rotating, attracting energy - receiving or radiating.  While we cannot see them, science is beginning to measure their existence by the frequencies they emit.  We can measure the frequencies.

Physically, the heart chakra is connected to our heart & circulatory systems, thymus, ribcage (including the diaphragm), shoulders/arms/hands and breasts.

Spiritually, this chakra teaches how to come from a place of love and compassion in any given situation.  A source for some of our most spiritual lessons of fear, forgiveness, trust, despair, betrayal, envy and FAITH.  It is where we learn about the most powerful energy we have ... love.

Here’s some more information about the heart chakra:

     - Liquids: green teas

Since the heart chakra mediates between body and spirit, it plays a large role in determining the health and strength of both body and spirit.  The way to FAITH is through LOVE . . . the way to LOVE is through the HEART.
